Acne

As a herbalist in dermatology, there are lots of patients coming to me with moderate to sever acne. Most of them have tried contraceptive pills, antibiotics or isotretinoin, steroid medication with strong side-effect, but the acne still not going completely. The side effects of pharmaceutical medications can be serious (some of them downright scary), as can be seen in this FDA warning about isotretinoin. Some of my patients have complained of mild to severe side effects they’ve had from past acne treatment with prescription drugs

Acne in Chinese Medicine

What do you think about the mainly cause of acne? Hormone level? Diet? Yes, the hormone and digestion affect the entire body. Herbal medicine is adjusting the body internal environment and detoxing the extra heat.

We look at the whole health picture. What does the acne look like? is the skin oily or shiny? Is there background redness? Are there pimples, pustules, cysts or all three? Where is the acne located? How about the disgest function? sleeping quality? the patients life styles? Are there other factors involved, such as drinking, smoking, diet or stress?

The herbal prescription comes after the consultation individualised, and it should be keep updated by weekly, as the body condition is changing during the herbal medicine.

Chinese herbal treatments have little/no side effects. There might be digested discomfort or having loose stools, but even these mildsymptoms don’t last too long.

That said, “herbal” and “natural” doesn’t mean a safetreatment. Anything strong enough to heal it also can be harmful if it is taken incorrectly. Make sure your herbalist has experience treating skin conditions, and that they’recommitted to using Chinese herbs and if their practice be insured.  Herb quality is a big concern in the Chinese medicine community, and this is something to which you should pay attention to.

AcuPro Clinic guarantees: we are using the mostexpensive herbal ingredient provider in UK market. We have compared all of the herbal providers in UK, and we found that the best quality herbs is the one costs most. Sowe decide to set a reasonable herbal price to make sure the treatment we provide is effective.

Chinese herbs are not a “cure all” nor working for everyone. But with diligent treatment, the vast majority of my acne patients report dramatic improvement. For many, the skin completely clears with no further relapse.

What you should know?

Acupuncture rarely ‘hurts‘. The most that people experience is a dull ache around the base of the inserted needle, or a slight tingling feeling when the needle is inserted. Points at the extremities, like toe or finger ends, can sometimes be a little sharp, but the sensation is usually brief.
