Introduction
Fat-dissolving injections, also known as lipolytic injections or fat-melting injections, are non-surgical cosmetic procedures designed to reduce localised fat deposits in specific areas of the body. These injections typically contain compounds like phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholic acid, which work by breaking down fat cells, allowing the body to naturally eliminate them. The procedure is often used to target areas with stubborn fat, such as the chin (double chin), abdomen, thighs, and love handles. Fat-dissolving injections are considered a non-invasive alternative to liposuction, providing individuals with a way to contour their body without the need for surgery.
Prior to the treatment
10 days prior to the treatment:
- Avoid taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, Advil®, Motrin®, Nuprin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, Fish oil, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort and high doses of vitamin E as these may cause increase risk of bleeding and bruising at the treated site(s)
- Regular multi-vitamin and Tylenol® is permitted (If not contraindicated)
- If you have any history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) on your face, please inform us
- Avoid dental procedures
- Avoid direct sun exposure
24 hours prior to the treatment:
- Avoid alcoholic beverages as this can increase the risk for bleeding and bruising at the treated site(s)
- Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal creams in the area(s) to be treated
- Eat a small meal or a snack before your appointment
After the treatment
- For facial injection, keep the head upright and avoid touching the area(s) for at least 6 hours after the treatment
- Avoid heat exposure such as sunbed / sauna for at least 48 hours
- Avoid strenuous activities or vigorous exercise for 24 hours
- Avoid activities with high pressure such as diving and flying for 72 hours
- Avoid any form of facial treatment or massage for 1 month
- Avoid dental procedures for 2 weeks
- Strictly no laser treatment for 2 weeks
- Use SPF 50 daily
